The first iteration of the Kunsthal Aarhus Book Club took place between 2024 and 2025, and focused on the practice of Danish publishers. We had the pleasure of welcoming Adagio for Things, Forlaget Asterisk, A Mock Books, Disko Bay, KBJ Enterprises, Lodret Vandret, and the iconic Space Poetry & Pist Protta. Through their work, they walked us through their published works, while explaining the many different ways books come into being, offering our audience a behind-the-scenes look at publishing as both a craft and an artistic practice.
In the second iteration, which took place between 2025 and 2026, the selection of guests was broaden to include other actors working across the publishing ecosystem. The eight guests were: artist Myrto Vratsanou, from artist’s book platform and exhibition space Bladr (Copenhagen); artist and artist’s book publisher Claudia de la Torre (Berlin); graphic designer Young Sam Kim, founder of Common Imprint, a platform for Asian publishing (Berlin), editorial designer Claus Due, from Studio Claus Due (Copenhagen), researcher and publisher Hanka van der Voet (Amsterdam); editor and architect Frederikke Gro, from Danish Architectural Press (Copenhagen), cultural manager Ann Kristin Stølan, founder of publishing platform Pamflett and Bergen Art Book Fair (Bergen); and artist Camillo Paravicini, founder and editor of children’s book publisher Rookie Books (Basel).
